Common issues and how to fix them
"Try again later" / "This number cannot be used to register"
Number was previously used with WhatsApp. Cancel for a refund; try a different country. Code arrives but WhatsApp says invalid

Code never arrives, timer runs out

Can I use a virtual number for WhatsApp Business (the app)?
Yes for WhatsApp Business (the free consumer app that acts like a business version of WhatsApp). No for WhatsApp Business API (the paid, official B2B integration) — that requires a verified business number that WhatsApp itself provisions. The two products have the same name but very different requirements.
Will WhatsApp ban my account for using a virtual number?
Not because of the number. WhatsApp bans accounts for spam, mass-broadcast, or ToS violations. A single virtual-number account behaving normally has the same standing as a SIM account. Multi-account operations (creating dozens for outreach) do get banned in waves — that's a business-model problem, not a number problem.
Do I need to keep paying to keep my account?
No. You pay once (the €0.40 or €0.20) for the SMS. The WhatsApp account is yours forever after that. But — and this is critical — turn on WhatsApp's two-step verification PIN immediately after signup. Without it, if WhatsApp ever asks you to re-verify (roughly every 6-12 months, or after logout, or after phone change), you can't receive the code because the number was returned to the pool.
